“I am mentally and physically normal,” Qian wrote. “I have never engaged in any unlawful practice, never engaged in illegal petitioning, either. But because my legally built new home was illegally demolished and caused me enormous costs — and after 10 years of appeals with no result — I’ve now been forced to walk a road I was never willing to take before.”
Very interesting (and sad) development as China sees it’s first suicide bomber not related to a cultural/ethnical conflict. If China continues on it’s path to becoming a Mafia State then this will inevitably be more and more common. I’m guessing Beijing is watching this one closely.
Update: the man who set of the bomb is being hailed online (by some) as a hero. Much like the case of Xia Junfeng who after stabbing two Chengguan (local police, known for harassing street vendors, beggars, etc) received massive online support for his case.
