Today is a terrible day that makes me feel heart-broken. 22 years since Tiananmen and China’s political climate has not opened, it has gotten worse. In the 80s there were at least a some independent student organizations that could voice their opinion. Today you can barely organize a book club without running into trouble. There is still no political “opening up” in sight, even if western democracies fantasizes that a market economy will lead to democracy, there is nothing that points in this direction.
